UTICA, NY, February 8, 2023 – Gomez and Sullivan Engineers D.P.C. (Gomez and Sullivan), a leading provider of specialized engineering, environmental science, and data management solutions to the water resource and energy sectors, announced the celebration of its 30th year as a company today.
In 1993, founding principals Jerry Gomez and Tom Sullivan planned to create a successful water resources engineering and environmental science firm by providing quality consulting services and maintaining a strong client base. Over the past 30 years, Gomez and Sullivan has substantially expanded its services to include expertise in the dam safety, hydropower licensing and compliance, engineering, stream and habitat restoration, hydrology and hydraulics, fisheries and fish passage, environmental studies, and information management fields with employees specializing in over 15 different disciplines. Gomez and Sullivan has successfully completed assignments at over 200 hydroelectric facilities across the United States as well as numerous stream restoration projects on rivers across the northeast.
The original two home office locations – one in Utica, NY, and the other in Weare, NH – were based in Jerry and Tom’s respective homes with the help and support of their wives and young families as well as the first official employee, Mark Wamser. Gomez and Sullivan has expanded considerably since 1993 with approximately 50 employees across our offices in Utica, Buffalo, and Albany, NY, Henniker, NH, and numerous remote locations. Over the past 30 years, Gomez and Sullivan has prided itself on building a strong culture and family atmosphere based on the values exhibited by its founding principals. “The primary thing that has made us successful over the past 30 years is the extraordinary people that we have been fortunate to work with and the relationships that we have built,” states Tom Sullivan, founding principal.
Gomez and Sullivan is excited to build upon the strong foundation laid over the past 30 years in the decades to come. In recent years, Gomez and Sullivan has welcomed new shareholders and established new corporate officers and members of its board of directors as well as recently completed a thorough review of benefits, compensation, and work from home policies to ensure an industry leading total benefits package. In addition, Gomez and Sullivan is growing aggressively to meet the growing demand for sustainable engineering support, welcoming ten new employees in 2022. The team is excited to continue this growth trajectory in 2023 and beyond.
