JOB DESCRIPTION

Our company has an opening for a Senior Fish Passage Engineer with experience in structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures, fish passage structures, and/or other water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects. 

It is preferred that this position would work out of the Henniker, NH office, however we will consider remote candidates reporting to the Henniker, NH office. This position also requires travel to project sites, mainly located in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Preference for candidates living in these areas is given. 

We are seeking a committed, detail-oriented individual to utilize their knowledge and experience for our clients’ immediate and future projects. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform civil engineering design with a focus on fisheries related infrastructure applications; including upstream and downstream fish passage, stream restoration, fish collection facilities and other water resource facilities/structures 
  • Develop and review (QA/QC) design plans and specifications, quantity take-offs, engineering cost estimates, and construction sequencing plans 
  • Support development of permit applications to meet federal, state, and local permitting requirements 
  • Assistance with bidding and construction phase services  
  • Preparation of supporting design reports to document structural calculations and design, leading of design teams, and coordination with affected disciplines 
  • Participation in site investigations and/or inspections and provide detailed reports of conditions 
  • Leading technical discussions with regulators and clients as well as public meetings 
  • Technical writing for project documents, as well as review of junior engineers’ technical writing  
  • Technical guidance and mentoring for junior engineers in their project work and development 
  • Marketing of professional services, proposal writing, cost estimating, and project scheduling 
  • Project management

QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS in Civil or Structural engineering required, MS preferred 
    • Registered as a Professional Engineer and committed to becoming registered in multiple northeast and mid-Atlantic states to support our regional business practice 
    • Structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, hydraulic structures, and fish passage structures  
    • Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects 
    • Stability and strength analysis of civil structures 
    • Finite element modeling and structural analysis 
    • Proficient in  
    • Structural analysis software such as Visual Analysis and STAAD.Pro 
    • Finite element analysis software 
    • Design software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D 
    • Experience with project management, cost estimation, and technical writing 
    • Strong communication, technical and analytical skills 
    • Experience with state and federal fish and wildlife resource agencies and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is a plus
