JOB DESCRIPTION

Our company has an opening for a GIS Analyst. The ideal candidate will provide GIS support to larger projects across the company (e.g., data processing/analysis and map generation associated with various environmental science studies, geospatial support associated with hydraulic models, development of geospatial-related marketing materials, etc.), lead and/or assist standalone GIS assignments, and support geospatial-related business development opportunities. In addition, this role may include some field data collection, including GPS, drones, traditional survey equipment, and acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCP). We are seeking committed, detail-oriented individuals who will be able to utilize their knowledge and experience, as well as current software technologies, for our clients’ immediate and future projects.   

It is preferred that this position work out of our Buffalo (Williamsville) NY office, however we will consider candidates that can commute to our other office locations. Our offices follow a hybrid work model, and flexibility to work remotely for specific circumstances is available. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting staff scientists and engineers to design and conduct recreation studies
  • Assistance with recreational use assessments, facilities inventories and condition assessments, and focus group meetings
  • Data processing and report writing
  • GIS data management and map development

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or other appropriate field 
  • ArcGIS Pro 
  • Enterprise and file geodatabases, including managing versioned geodatabases 
  • Designing geodatabase schemas and working with domains, subtypes, relationship classes, topologies, and terrains 
  • Relational databases and SQL 
  • Digitizing and editing spatial data 
  • Querying and performing statistical analyses on tabular data 
  • Cartography skills including experience with data driven pages, layout development, and maplex label engine to develop maps for public consumption 
  • Vertical and horizontal datum transformations 
  • Geoprocessing tools including 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst tools 
  • Model builder and basic Python scripting as well as Jupyter Notebooks 
  • Develop terrain and Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) from various elevation sources including LiDAR 
  • Ability to convert multiple data types into a GIS format (KMZ, CADD, Excel, georeferenced historical documents)
