JOB DESCRIPTION

Our company has an opening for a Geotechnical Engineer with experience in subsurface soil and rock investigations, slope stability and seepage analyses, and developing associated geotechnical solutions at our Utica, NY office. Candidates that can work from the Albany, NY office will also be considered. The ideal candidate will have experience with earthen dams, levees, dikes, geotechnical subsurface explorations, and dam safety. We are seeking a committed, detail-oriented individual who will be able to utilize their knowledge and experience for our clients’ immediate and future projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Geotechnical investigation and oversight of instrumentation installation
  • Interpret and evaluate instrumentation and laboratory test data
  • Investigation and evaluation of earthen dams
  • Slope stability analyses
  • Earthquake, liquefaction, and deformation studies
  • Seepage and piping evaluations
  • Concrete dam foundation evaluations
  • Erosion studies and erosion protection design
  • Develop and/or review construction sequencing, design plans and specifications, and permit applications
  • Design of earth retaining structures
  • Foundation design and evaluation
  • Technical writing for project documents, industry journals/conferences, as well as review of technical writing performed by junior engineers
  • Participate in marketing professional services including proposal writing, cost estimates, and project schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Civil Engineering or Geology (MS with Geotechnical Engineering emphasis preferred)
  • Professional Engineer or Engineer in Training with the ability to obtain a PE
  • 5 to 10 years of experience
  • Strong technical background and experience with:
    • Geotechnical issues for civil/water resources projects
    • Earthen dams, levees, and dikes
    • GeoSlope Studio (Slope/W, Seep/W, etc.) or similar analysis software
  • Additional experience with any of the following is a plus: dam safety, hydropower, flood control, sedimentation, natural channel design, geomorphology, survey and bathymetry, shoreline and coastal erosion control, AutoCAD, GID, hydraulic modeling, and natural sciences.
