JOB DESCRIPTION

Our company has an opening for a Civil/Structural Engineer with experience in civil and/or hydraulic structures (dams, hydropower plants, penstocks, fish passage structures, etc.) and associated geotechnical solutions at our Henniker, NH, Albany, NY, or Utica, NY office. The ideal candidate will have experience in concrete and steel structure design and analysis associated with water retaining and water transmission structures. Our company is seeking a committed, detail-oriented individual who will be able to utilize their knowledge and experience for our clients’ immediate and future projects.  Good communication and ability to work collaboratively with a team are a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under direction from a Project Manager, develop design details, technical specifications, conceptual and construction drawings, construction sequencing and permit applications.
  • Assist with structural condition assessments, periodic site visits, and feasibility studies.
  • Technical writing for engineering reports and project documentation.
  • Structural assessment including finite element analysis.
  • Quantity Takeoffs and cost estimate data.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in civil or structural engineering (MS preferred)
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training or Professional Engineer
  • 0 to 5 years of experience
  • Structural technical background and familiarity with:
    • Structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures,
    • Stability and strength analyses of civil structures,
    • Finite element modeling and structural analysis,
    • Seismic assessments of civil structures and/or geotechnical analysis/design, as well as dam safety and/or hydropower experience is a plus
    • Structural codes such as American Concrete Institute (ACI) 318; American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Steel Construction Manual, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7 – Minimum Design Loads for Building and Other Structures.
  • Proficient with:
    • Structural analysis software such as Visual Analysis and STAAD.Pro
    • Finite element analysis software
    • Autodesk AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or Revit
  • Additional experience with any of the following is a plus: design of earthworks, dredging, storm drainage, and/or flood control structures; hydraulics, hydrology, natural channel design, fish passage, survey, bathymetry, GIS, Emergency Action Plans and/or natural sciences
